Movie Reviews

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Directors:  Zack Snyder

Screenwriter:  Chris Terrio, David S. Goyer

Genre:  Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Before I went and watched this movie, I had seen all the reviews on Youtube and most of them saying they sucked. So I had a pretty negative expectation of this movie; however, I really enjoyed the movie. First of all Ben Affleck proved everybody wrong including me. I was awed by his take on Batman. Again, Henry Cavill gives us a very good take on his Superman. Also another thing to note was Gal Gadot's Wonderwoman. She was portrayed beautifully and brilliantly. Unlike other Superhero movies where female characters are basically just there for the fan service she was actually doing something. I liked how the writers introduced her into the movie and I also love how she was on par with Supes and Bats while fighting Doomsday. KUDOS to that! Another thing I really liked about the movie was how we're given Bruce Wayne's point of view of him wanting to kill Superman. There is no long speech as why he wants to kill Superman but rather we're shown it via Superman's actions and Bruce Wayne's or Batman's reaction to it.

One thing I did have a problem with was that Zack tried to fit too much into one movie. Over here I felt that the movie lacked. A solution to this would've been to either split the movie into two parts or increase the length of the movie. Personally, I would've preferred the latter as it would have made the pacing much better rather than rushing everything in the middle.

All in all it was a good movie.

Zootopia

Directors: Byron Howard, Rich Moore

Screenwriter: Byron Howard, Jared Bush

Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure

This movie is amaze-balls!

So in 2016 we were introduced to the world of Zootopia. A place where animals are humans...or something like that. Anywho, we are introduced to the world of Zootopia via a bunny called Judy Hopps. A bunny rabbit that aspires to be a cop in the metropolitan city that is Zootopia. The movie was brillaint for a number of reasons, one of them being that we're given a history of zootopia and how and why the world is the way it is. It is unlike anything else ever done before. I mean remember the Cars movie? Now it's almost the same premise but except we were never given a historical background on where they came from or how they're even talking. Moving on Ginnifer Goodwin's voice acting as Judy Hopps was spot on!

So basically, Judy Hopps is this small town bunny rabbit having big dreams of one day being a cop in Zootopia so that she can help the world be a better place. Except when she ventures out into Zootopia it isn't this sanctuary where everyone sings "Kumbaya". It turns out that Zootopia has it's own problem of racism. That is another thing I love about this movie. It looks like a kids movie but it is so much more than that.

Once Judy moves to Zootopia, the city just has it out for her. It's trying to break her and she goes to the point where she questions if she had made the right choice.

It's also the place where she meets the crafty Nick Wilde voiced by Jason Bateman, who does a wonderful job doing it. And HOLY SHIT! They have such good chemistry together. It's as if they were born for these roles.

Nick Wilde is basically the realist of the duo but Judy changes something within him, as they take on the biggest mystetry faced by Zootopia. She teaches him that it is okay to hope and he teaches her that she needs to keep herself grounded. That is another thing I love about this movie the perfectly paced character development.

If I go any further about this movie I think this might turn into a spoiler review. So the final world is if you haven't seen Zootopia. What rock have been living under?

Justice league: Flashpoint Paradox

Directors:  Jay Olivia

Screenwriter:  Jim Kreig

Genre:  Action, Adventure, Animation

The Flashpoint paradox is an animated movie based on the original comic book "Flashpoint" by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert. Basically Barry one day wakes up in an alternate reality and shit is really screwed up and now he must find a way to fix it all. Now, this movie started out as having so much potential and the beginning scenes I really enjoyed. I though it would be a great movie but however I was let down. Don't get me wrong the story and plot were amazing. The only trouble that I had was with the emotional scenes. All of the emotional scenes, the build up was there, everything was present for a really great emotional scene where I could connect with the movie but it was screwed up by the voice acting. For example, there was this one scene with the flash where he tries to break the time barrier. That scene would've been so much better if the voice actor of the flash, Justin Chambers, had screamed his heart out. That's just one scene there were other where I personally went like ":\ k". It is the emotional scenes in a movie that really connect the audience with movie. And by emotional scenes I don't mean crying and all of that although they can be that, but not only that.

FInal word, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox had great story and great potential. The voice acting was decent but the places where the movie should have focused on to connect me to the movie. That is where they messed up.
